We are thrilled to announce our June Black Women Roc! Campaign

Today is the official launch of our June Black Women Roc! Campaign

All month long 540WMain.org will spotlight the accomplishments of local black women who are effecting change in our community. Additionally, the center will feature classes and programming taught by black women (and men) that are rooted in subjects that are important to black women and members of the black community

These spotlights will happen weekly and include five main interviews featuring local black women including

  • Melissa Barrett
  • Danielle Ponder
  • Lashonda Davis
  • Melanie Funchess
  • Salom Pearl Singer

The Campaign Details

Programs and special workshops featured in this campaign include:

Natural Hair Styling Techniques w/Faye Eaton | June 1st

Artist of the Month | Lavonne Barfield

Hip Hop Cardio for Beginners w/ Marcus Bowens | June 8

How to Make Organic Body Scrub Workshop w/ JoVonna Victor | June 14

African Drum Playing w/ Joe Starling | June 15

The campaign culminates with the June 25 Black Women Roc! Open Mic & Performing Arts Showcase

Throughout the month 540WMain’s social media platforms will be extensions of these exclusive biographies, online interviews, and events by featuring a bevy historical facts and figures about local black women both past and present.

We are elated to finally bring this very special month of activity to fruition. Please share and shout out in the comments below black women that roc your world and let’s keep the conversation going this month and beyond.
